Our Company
Prov.net is Southern New England’s newest colocation and managed services provider with a data center located in Providence, RI. Prov.net opened its initial 2100 square foot facility at 1155 Westminster Street in July 2009 for customers needing a secure data center facility with high-capacity bandwidth for their disaster recovery needs, new SaaS service offerings, and new technology ventures. Prov.net provides colocation services, data center solution services, and connectivity services to customer seeking a highly reliable and cost effective solution for their data center needs.
Our Customers
Prov.net’s customers fall into 5 general groups; 1) Local high growth businesses like Rhode One Technology who require significant bandwidth to provide on-line SaaS services; 2) Telecommunications, Mobile Telephone or Media Content companies like Clear Channel Communications and T-mobile that need to use a shared data center as well as” roof rights” in Providence; 3) Small and local entrepreneurial or venture backed businesses like Traction Software or Progressive Leadership who need to have their computers in a local, accessible , and secure data center , 4) medium and large businesses that that need remote computers for business continuity and disaster recovery purposes but also require expert technical support from Prov.net; 5) State and municipal agencies who require reliable and fault tolerant systems that should be located in Providence or Rhode Island rather than out-of-state.
Our Data Center Facility
Prov.net maintains a fully alarmed secure facility with 7 day per week - 24 hour electronic surveillance. The prov.net center technical staff is on-site Monday-Friday during business hours. Prov.net also monitors the environmental conditions of the facility on a 7x24 basis as well.
Our HVAC and Electrical Infrastructure
Prov.net maintains redundant HVAC cooling systems to ensure there is no single point of failure. Our data center has 800 kilowatt 3- phase service from National Grid which enters our facility on redundant feeds and is served by the same “feeder” as Providence’s Safety Complex. The Safety Complex is the City’s primary fire, police, and emergency response center in Providence, RI. The Prov.net facility has not had a power/electrical outage for the past 4 years, since monitoring began. Prov.net also provides conditioned power and back-up power via UPS and a back-up diesel generator.
Our Telecommunications Infrastructure
Prov.net is registered with ARIN as an ISP and is carrier neutral. We provide fully redundant IP bandwidth using Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to ensure multiple and redundant telecommunications paths to computing resources within the prov.net facility. Prov.net currently has 2 gigabytes of available bandwidth and can expand up to 10 gigabytes. There are also several “strands of dark-fiber” terminating within the facility enabling prov.net to engineer and connect dedicated private networks and / or fiber rings to their facilities for customers with locations anywhere in the world.
Our Management and Support Staff
Prov.net’s management and technical support staff has decades of experience providing data center and managed services to customers. We have diverse technical and business experience in the industry and have worked for or with several industry leaders including Cisco Systems, AT&T, APC, and HP/EDS.
